Christmas Tag!

Merry Christmas you gorgeous lot!

The wonderful Emma over at Emma and Family (her tag is here) and Jayne at Sticky Mud and Belly Laughs have tagged me to answer some Christmas themed questions and so here I am 🙂

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Ooh this one is so hard – I LOVE Christmas movies! Lily’s favourites are Home Alone (but only the first one!) and Elf, when I was little it wasn’t Christmas unless we watched Miracle on 34th Street, The Santa Clause and Die Hard and even now I can’t get through the festive season without watching It’s A Wonderful Life and Love Actually. Oh wait Mean Girls is a Christmas movie too right?! And Gremlins…and Lethal Weapon… and The Muppets Christmas Carol…

*well you did ask ahem*

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Erm no – not that I can remember! We tend to end up with snow in January

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

This year we will be spending Christmas with my mother in law at her house, we used to rotate between my parents and Scott’s mums house but as my parents got divorced this year I’m not sure how that will work in future. To be honest I’d really like to go away for Christmas next year!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I shared my top ten Christmas songs the other day, so you can check them out here!

Do you open any presents on Christmas eve?

When I was a kid we always got to open one present on Christmas eve plus we always got Christmas pyjamas but I’ve decided not to do the gift anymore just the pjs – I’m trying to cut down on how many presents we buy and I’d rather leave what we do buy to be opened on the day!

Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer?

I can – I memorised the ‘Twas the Night before Christmas’ poem by Clement Clarke Moore for school one year and have always remembered the reindeer bit!

“Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!”

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

I’ll be honest I’ve spoken a lot about my lack of Christmas spirit this year already (have a look here) so I’ve not been looking forward to it at all. I guess if I had to choose I’d go for how we spend Boxing day – chilling out, eating lots of nibbles and watching movies! Oh and the TV Christmas specials are always fun!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake! I’ll be honest whilst I love the smell of real Christmas trees it annoys me when they aren’t symmetrical etc! #issues also I hoover enough as it is I don’t want to add to that with pine needles!

What is you all time favourite holiday treat/ food/ sweet?

I love Christmas dinner – especially the Brussels sprouts and pigs in blankets!

Be honest, do you like giving or recieving gifts better?

Well I don’t think anyone dislikes receiving gifts surely?! I love getting a gift IF it’s something I actually want or need. I also love giving somebody something that they will definitely love – it’s so nice to see them unwrap it and be happy!

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

When I was little it was my bike – it had a little basket for my doll on the front and these pretty purple tassles on the handlebars – I’ll never forget coming down on Christmas morning to see that by the tree! As an adult it’d probably be anything that I can tell the gifter has really thought about – so for example miniature gins, a day out, a beautiful copy of Wuthering Heights and a fantastic art print. I am hoping this year that Scott has got me my Westbourne Chelsea boots from Joules!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I would LOVE to spend Christmas at Disney World. I’d also love to go Christmas shopping in New York. Or anywhere in Europe where we would get a white Christmas!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

FAIL all the way. I have a whole pinterest board of pretty wrapping ideas but I’m a messy wrapper and always in a hurry – I do buy nice wrapping paper though haha!

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Lily’s first Christmas was pretty special 🙂 But also being 9 months pregnant on Christmas day and basically keeping my legs crossed all day as I refused to go into labour before I could eat my dinner! Oh and getting a call from my sister to say her boyfriend had proposed to her was really special too!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

Erm what truth? No idea what you are talking about!

What makes the holidays special for you?

Spending time with friends and family is the best bit about the Christmas holiday!

And so on that note – here’s me signing off for a few days so I can go and spend time with my lovely family – hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas! See you on the flip side 🙂
