Japan - Planning our once in a lifetime trip to Japan.

Bucket List Destinations for Bloggers

As a travel blogger, I’m forever being asked where I am travelling to next and what I have on my bucket list.

I wrote a HUGE bucket list that you can find here but honestly, it can be a bit disheartening when I see how little I have ticked off!

I’ve started planning a bigger trip to Japan – more on that later! However, I also want to visit a few European cities over the next year or so. I’d really like to see Rome and return to Paris. I did go when I was younger (about 12) but I didn’t see much and didn’t appreciate it as much! The Paris Pass just posted a bucket list of things to do in Paris which has definitely reignited my desire to go. Click through to see the Paris bucket list!

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

I decided to ask some fantastic bloggers what THEIR top bucket list destinations were. Some of these are travel bloggers and have seen so much of the World so it was really interesting to me to get a different perspective on the Bucket List. Here are the places that they would hate to miss out on!

The Ultimate Bucket List Destinations for Bloggers

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations Helene Choo said Australia so that she can see the cute kangaroos and koalas 🐨

Australia is a pretty popular choice -Pete from Household Money Saving said ‘It’s the other side of the world and all my friends that have been said they loved it. I would like to tour and see the outback.’

And Sarah from Digital Motherhood also chose it! ‘Have always wanted to go but the biggest hurdle is not being able to take long enough off work!Β

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Mamta Naidu said Antartica – for glaciers and the wildlife especially penguins, whales and seals!

Tracey from Pack the Pjs also chose Antartica saying ‘I have two places – the Maldives and Antarctica. I was lucky enough to go to the Maldives this summer, so I guess that leaves Antarctica on my list. I’ve always wanted to go because I love adventure: I love whale watching, the cold and snow, penguins … it would be like my own mini expedition! I went to the Galapagos Islands for my honeymoon 16 years ago, and I imagine an Antarctic adventure would be a cold version of this! Of course, I’d want to take my children too, so they can experience it alongside me.’

Glam and Geeky Mum said ‘I’d love to take my entire family to Singapore one day. It’s such a vibrant city with amazing sights and sounds. Visiting the Gardens by the bay nature park would be top of my list of things to do.’

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Coffee, Cake Kids said ‘Iceland, because it looks so beautiful and interesting. I live by the beach and mountains, I’ve lived in a city – so Iceland is totally different to anything I know.’ *I visited Iceland last year and it’s incredible!*

Vicky from Tactical Mummy would probably love Iceland too – her bucket list trip would be to see the Northern Lights.

Another vote for Iceland was from Zoe from the Tale of Mummyhood who would love to go whale watching off of the coast of Iceland. ‘I love whales, but would only want to see them in their natural habitat!’

Kirsty at Life With Boys said ‘Niagra Falls, ever since I watched Bruce Almighty as a child it’s been on my bucket list – as soon as my little one is old enough to appreciate it we’ll be visiting.’

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Lianne from Ankle Biters Adventures picked Las Vegas, saying ‘Me and my other half want to go to Vegas and get married by Elvis and have ribs and cocktails for our reception then do route 66’ *That would be INCREDIBLE*

Polly from Our Seaside Baby said Japan (it’s mine too!). She said ‘I spent a year teaching English in Japan when I was in my early twenties and would love to return with my son in tow. The country is beautiful and so diverse. I do miss the Japanese way of life, the sights and delicious food & know my son would love it too’

Jack from Find Worlds Beauty also chose Japan. ‘Would absolutely love to visit Japan for the unique culture, the buzzing cities and the breathtaking landscapes.’

Alana from Baby Holiday chose The Easter Islands, saying ‘The Easter Islands are at the top of my list. I would love to see the stone heads as they look fascinating. I tried so hard to fit it into a gap year trip but the flights weren’t possible. I’ll get there one day!’

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Amy from The Smallest of Things chose a Safari in Africa! She said ‘Once the girls are grown James and I are going without a doubt πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ’

Francesca of From Pennies to Pounds would love to visit the Bahamas *Wouldn’t we all?* The Bahamas are top of her bucket list because ‘I would love to take my daughter there as it’s such a beautiful place, we adore the sunshine and the beach – but I know it would be her favourite thing ever to see dolphins and also the swimming pigs! I can’t think of anything better than that!’

Nadia from Scandi Mummy choseΒ Hawaii, saying ‘I’d love to visit one day. I’ve been to many places in the US but this is somewhere I’ve heard is very special.’

Sarah from Mummy Cat Notes chose Wales. ‘I know that sounds really stupid for a bucket list but I’m a really anxious traveller and I have never been to Wales before so I’d love to visit before I kick it!’ *Not stupid at all Sarah – I’m an anxious traveller myself and sometimes staying close to home is just as nice as a long-haul trip*

Kate from Five Little Stars has 2! ‘Climbing Mont Blanc – I wish I had done it pre-children but just never got around to it. And cage diving with great white sharks, in South Africa, having also done the Garden Route and a Safari – just because it looks awesome! Probably best to do the cage diving towards the end of the trip…just in case…you know…I get eaten!’ 😬 At the moment Kate is actually in Corsica and wants to take a trip to Carcassonne which has been firmly on my list for years, ever since she read the Kate Mosse book set there.

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Laura from Five Little Doves would love to go to Madagascar! ‘A little random perhaps but I have wanted to go there ever since primary school when we did a school project about the rain forests!’

Kelly from Girl With The Passport also chose Madagascar. ‘Oh god, my bucket list is always growing and expanding. I think right now my dream would be to visit Madagascar. I actually wanted to move there and study lemurs when I was a little girl. And even though my life goals have changed, I still want to see and experience the wildlife in this beautifully diverse place!’

Alyssa from Alyssa All Day is dying to spend a few nights in a yurt in Kyrgyzstan! *I recently stayed in a yurt and it’s pretty cool!*

Bloggers Share Their Ultimate Bucket List Destinations

Gemma from Somewhere After The RainbowΒ chose North Carolina ‘I had a Dawson’s Creek obsession growing up, and I love Nicholas Sparks books and they are all set there. One day!’ And Jenna from Then There Were 3 chose SOUTH Carolina ‘My husband and I have wanted to go to their country music festival for ages and next year we are finally doing it!’

If anything seeing everybody’s dream destinations has me adding even more to my own list! It’s also made me feel incredibly grateful to have done a couple of them already – such as visiting Iceland and seeing The Northern Lights which was a real bucket-list moment for me!

What’s on your bucket list?

Thanks for the feature πŸ˜€ We went to Japan as a family last year – it was amazing! Let me know if you want any tips. But here’s an unsolicited one – try and go to a place called Arayshima – UNESCO world heritage sites literally on every turn. We got a train there from Kyoto. It was my absolute favourite place we went to in Japan. Kate http://www.fivelittlestars.com

Thanks Kate! I am excitedly planning our trip to Japan although it won’t be for a couple of years yet! Will make a note of Arayshima too πŸ™‚ xx

I absolutely love this! I really want to go to places like Iceland as it looks so beautiful. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some lovely places, but the countries I’m most excited about seeing are European cities! We always did the weird and wonderful places and that meant I just missed out on Europe.

Europe has some incredible city breaks! We did Prague, Glasgow and Edinburgh last year, Zadar and Tisno in Croatia, Stockholm and Vaxholm this year and have Dublin and Paris pencilled in for next year! I can’t resist a mini break πŸ™‚

Oooh I’ve always fancied Japan – you’re going to have an amazing time when you do go. Hope the saving is going well! Sadly, any far flung adventures aren’t on our radar at the moment as we have next to no money (boo hoo) but armed with a tent, we can still have adventures here in the UK. Portmerion is on my list! And I’d love to do some big hikes too.

    • Reply bettertogetherhome September 27, 2017 at 1:29 pm

The saving is going well… it’s not going anywhere yet ha! We may have to limit our travels a bit more over the next two years to focus on saving so I may be joining you in te camping! I’d love to go to Portmerion!
