10 Baby Boy Names I Love (but won’t be using)

You might have seen this post last week of 10 Baby Girl Names I love (but won’t be using).

And if you’ve seen our gender reveal video (you can find it here) you will know that we are expecting a baby boy.

Well here are the babyΒ boy names that we love but won’t be using πŸ™‚

We’ve decided to call our little miracle baby Theo and I’m so excited to meet him!

10 Baby Boy Names I Love (but won’t be using)

1. Ezra

I love love love this name. It has Hebrew origins and means ‘help’ but I first heard it being used in the Rebel Star Wars programme that Scott and Lily watch!

2. Indiana

Indiana Jones *duh* – he was Scott’s hero growing up and I can’t help but think that any kid with this name would be pretty cool!

3. Harrison

I loved this name and it was a major contender for Lily if she’d been a boy – however, it’s since become popular and we know a few!

4. Luke

Luke is Scott’s middle name and I love the idea of continuing it on to the next generation. Again it’s another Star Wars name (are you seeing a trend?!)

5. Arthur

6.Β  Felix

Scott really didn’t agree with me on this name – mainly because he thinks it’s a cat name! I loved the association with Felix Felicis – the good luck potion from Harry Potter!

7. Tristan

Tristan was one of the knights of the round table in the King Arthur legends and it has a strong Celtic connection. Unfortunately, it’s also associated with the tragedy of Tristan and Isolde – which makes me sad so I probably wouldn’t have used it.

8. Wren

I love the name Wren and had only seen it used once in a children’s story from when I was younger but in recent years Katie from Mummy, Daddy, Me used it for her son.

9. Clarke

10. Jude

Hey Jude is one of my favourite songs (by the band The Beatles) and I love this name.

However religious people might dislike it because of its association with Judas. I was quite conscious of that and didn’t want to offend some of our family so likely wouldn’t have used this name for that reason!

Do you like any of the names I loved?

Which one would you pick?

Alex

Aww a lovely selection of names – I really struggled with boys names when I was pregnant. I seemed to either know someone or remember someone with all the names I liked!

My husband works in a nursery and has vetoed so many names as there are kids he works with who have them already!

  • Reply Katy - Hot Pink Wellingtons May 11, 2018 at 7:53 am

Ah, Felix and Jude were on my lists too but my husband vetoed them both! (Felix for the same reason as your husband!) I have two boys and we actually found it fairly easy to settle on our names both times (although it did become clear that I really like names that end in an ‘x’!)

    • Reply bettertogetherhome May 11, 2018 at 8:33 am

Ha my husband will be feeling validated by the fact that someone else thinks Felix is a cat’s name! I’m still considering Jude as a middle name but I’m sure it will offend some of the family! xx

I had Declan and Johan on my list but they didn’t really suit my son. It’s so daunting coming up with the β€œright” name.

I absolutely love the name Ezra! And many Hebrew names in general. I wouldn’t choose it though, as we always wanted names without any religious connections. Felix is cool, too!

Yep Ezra is a fab name. I love it for it’s Star Wars connotations much more than it’s religious ones ha!

I love your list – I think my two favourites on it would be Arthur and Jude. I love all the old fashioned boys names such as Hector and Albert although I’m not sure I’d use them as a first name. Theo is gorgeous so I love your choice – wishing you the best for the rest of your pregnancy x

I love the name Ezra . We have three girls so I don’t know if we will ever get to use it πŸ™‚

  • Reply Sophie's Nursery May 12, 2018 at 7:27 am

I find boys names SO hard! We could only agree on one – Charlie – which is lucky as our other baby was a girl haha. I really like the names Felix & Arthur πŸ™‚ x

    • Reply bettertogetherhome May 12, 2018 at 8:11 am

I love the name Charlie but I have TWO nephews who both have the name ha! x

I love the name Felix! Especially the Harry Potter name, but also really like Harrison as well πŸ™‚

  • Reply Katie May 12, 2018 at 8:58 am

I know a few Harrisons too, haha. Love Indiana, I’m a massive fan too.

I don’t want kids but always loved Xander for a boy.

    Katie xoxo

These are all such gorgeous names, I really like Ezra, Wren and Tristian.

  • Reply Tracy May 12, 2018 at 1:08 pm

Oh these are such cute names. Almost makes me want to have another baby! Felix is quite common here in Sweden and is pronounced Fair-licks here! Love Tristan – it was on our list for our boys! Jude seems to be getting more popular – I have a friend with a little boy named Jude. Not sure I am overly keen myself! πŸ™‚

  • Reply Justine May 12, 2018 at 1:15 pm

I like Jude too, but I agree with Scott about Felix. I think it’s a cat’s name!
    Congratulations on the impending arrival.

We know loads of Harrisons! My mummy didn’t have any boys names picked when I was born, thankfully I wasn’t a boy or I would have been called the boy with no name x

We loved the name Harrison, it was our 2nd choice for my son. We hesitated as it was the name of the local school he was going to attend!

  • Reply fashionandstylepolice May 12, 2018 at 8:18 pm

Cute boy names here. I like Harrison and Tristan.

  • Reply Kerry Norris May 13, 2018 at 8:02 am

Great selection. I love Ezra and Jude. I also like Tristan

I love your list. I think mu faves are Clarke and Luke.

  • Reply Laura Dove May 13, 2018 at 5:51 pm

We have a Harrison. We chose it years ago before it became overly popular, although saying that there is only one Harrison in the whole school he will be attending!

    • Reply bettertogetherhome May 14, 2018 at 9:10 am

I love Harrison – unfortunately we know so many now including one that is a close family friend so I think it would look odd if we used it! x

  • Reply Sadia thompson May 14, 2018 at 7:46 am

Hey I have never heard the name Wren before and think that this is a fantastic name. I love your list and the fact that although you love these names you won’t be using them. I had a similar experiance as for so many years I held onto particular names but I feel me can out grow things and this sends a wonderful message that it is ok to love something but change our minds about it.

Such a nice collection of names and good to see my sons name is in there – Arthur πŸ™‚ We had planned to call him Arlo but when he came out he didn’t look like an Arlo. Well saying that I really want to call him Zephyr but my other half wouldn’t agree on it

    Laura x

    • Reply bettertogetherhome May 14, 2018 at 9:09 am

I LOVE the name Zephyr but Scott doesnt πŸ™‚ and we are thinking of Arthur as a middle name now πŸ™‚ x

  • Reply Jen May 14, 2018 at 8:54 pm

I love Ezra and Jude! Alexander would have been our third and final boy, but she was a girl instead!

  • Reply Hayley May 14, 2018 at 9:13 pm

I love Ezra! It’s on my list too! I did a video about this the other day and Ezra was one of my choices. I love Wren too x

  • Reply Annette, 3 Little Buttons May 14, 2018 at 9:40 pm

What great names! I love LOVE love Theo! And also Ezra… but that might be because it stuck from watching Pretty Little Liars. Haha.

  • Reply Kara May 15, 2018 at 1:45 pm

I had Harrison as a potential name for Callan, but it became really popular so I discarded it. Hubby wanted to name Isaac, Luke, but I wasn’t having it LOL

  • Reply Talya May 15, 2018 at 3:29 pm

I love the name Ezra my cousin’s little boy is called that I think it’s the best name ever!

  • Reply Adelina May 19, 2018 at 10:25 pm

Love the names but I’m also obsessed with those shoes! Where did you buy them?! 😍😍
