So the gorgeous Kirsty from Kirsty Dee Shares invited me to join in with her 7 day Vlogging Challenge. I’ve got to admit that my first thought was HELL NO! But after thinking about it more I decided that pushing myself out of my comfort zone would actually do me some good and so I threw in my hat.
And so this week I’ve uploaded a couple of videos to my YouTube channel – which you can find here , and surprisingly I’ve enjoyed it! Don’t get me wrong I still hate seeing my face on screen and am paranoid about putting myself out there in this way but I’m also super proud of myself for joining in – it definitely helps that Kirsty and the others joining in are being super supportive 🙂

Oh I do so love a Bank Holiday weekend – an extra day to spend with family and friends; an extra evening to drink gin without worrying about the ‘adult headache’ the next day, the perfect excuse for a spa day or mini break… you get the drift! However what I really don’t love about a short work week is that you have only four days to get a full week’s work done AND it always feels so much harder to be productive and get everything done when your brain has had a few days off. So I thought I’d share four tips for you to implement that will help make your short work week productive and enjoyable 🙂
Gosh I actually can’t believe that we are in May already! This year seems to be flying by – we are practically half way through now which is quite scary actually…
I love the start of a new month; it feels like a fresh beginning, especially when the weather is finally starting to warm up a little (emphasis on the word little as despite the blue skies it’s freezing here today!) I thought I’d embrace that feeling of a new start and take a few moments out of my day to set myself some little goals for the month ahead 🙂
Growing up my dad (who had been in the Navy) was forever telling me stories of wild, exotic places; of fascinating cultures and people and amazing sights he saw when he travelled the World. I was always convinced that I would do the same until I got older and started my career and started to feel like Worldwide travel would be forever out of my grasp.
But last year I realised that to travel didn’t necessarily mean to go off and do it full time in the way that my dad did, but that by taking regular trips we could see the World in a lot more practical a way. That being said travel still costs money (despite my firm belief in the quote “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer”) and so we are saving up for various trips that we want to take – ticking off our bucket lists tick by little tick.
This past year we’ve been able to go to some amazing places such as Prague, Scotland and Iceland, and we have some amazing trips planned for the rest of this year too such as Croatia and Berlin, so as you can imagine we’ve been putting away our pennies to go towards those! As we are saving as much as we can towards travel experiences I figured I’d share my top tips for saving money up for travel (or any other goals you might have!)
Sounds random right? I guess once you’re married you’ve left the ‘dating’ stage of your relationship behind, but I’m thinking more along the lines of going out on a proper ‘date’ the way you would have when you first met.
Scott and I got together when I was 17, our first date was to Greenwich – we went to the cinema to watch Pan’s Labyrinth, walked through the park drinking milkshakes and for dinner to a little Italian restaurant. After that first date we were always going out – bowling, to parties, gigs, weekends away, meals, cinema etc – of course we stayed in together too *how do you think we got Lily ;)*
I remember the excitement of getting ready to go on our dates – picking out an outfit, curling my hair, applying the glittery eye shadow that was super on-trend back in the days *this was pre the existence of contouring*, calling my friends to discuss every minute detail of my outfit and our plans and all of that nice buzzy feeling waiting for him to knock on the door.
It’s been ten years, one wedding and one beautiful daughter later and whilst we do go out it’s not labelled as a ‘date’ but I’m starting to think it should be. And so I’ve planned out a list of ways to ‘date’ my husband – it doesn’t have to be expensive nights out but I’d like to get dressed up intentionally to go out together. One of the most wonderful nights we had recently was for our anniversary last year when Scott took me to Opium Bar in Soho – we had cocktails, dim sum and I’d got dressed up (even wearing heels) for the occasion. It was exciting and fun and we both had such a good time – it’s been 7 months since then and we’ve not really done anything similar and I think it’s important that we make more time for ‘us’ as a couple not just as a family or individuals.
It was my hubby’s birthday yesterday so this week’s meal plan is a bit late as we were busy celebrating!
This week is going to be super busy, plus we are all back to work/school *eurgh* and so I’m not going to be wanting to spend much time in the kitchen (tbh I never ever want to spend much time in the kitchen anyway ha!) so this week’s recipes are simple and quick family meals. Also between birthday celebrations and Easter half term we’ve spent a fair bit so I’m sticking to a super thrifty budget this week, and as before any new recipes are marked with an asterisk* 🙂
You know that saying ‘the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence’? Well that’s definitely the case for me when it comes to working from home – it was one of those things that I dreamt of happening until it actually did and now I actually miss my office ha! For those of you thinking about going into working from home this might be helpful – and even if you aren’t it can be good to see that it’s not all a bed of roses!
